While we spend a lot of time and energy telling our viewers about far off, tropical places, it is easy to forget that we really don't have to travel out of our own back yard to experience paradise. There are lots of beautiful, balmy locales right here in the USA. If you are in need of some warm sunshine and sandy beaches, but don't want to leave home, here are some of our suggestions for your next, upcoming trip: Florida This is the obvious one...Florida's got it all and you don't even have to take a plane to get there. Check out Miami for a hot, party spot, or sit back and relax in the Keys. You can have a blast at all of the amusement parks in Orlando, even if you don't have any kids in tow. Visit the everglades on an eco-tour or head off to some cool diving spots. California Southern Cal. is a busy place, with LOTS to do...trust us, you will never be bored here. There's Hollywood, plam trees and all, Disneyland, California Adventure, Universal Studios and much more. San Diego is warm and tropical, Santa Catalina island is a wonderful, little hideaway and Santa Barbara (our home town) is sunny and gorgeous most of the winter. Check out where the stars live, or just live like one for awhile. Texas Speaking of stars, did you forget about the lone star state? A lot of people don't realize that parts of Texas are deep in the south, ie: warm and tropical. Just ask their native son, Jimmy Buffet. South Padre Island is well worth visiting and San Antonio is romantic and full of history. Hawaii It's hard to believe sometimes, that Hawaii is not a foreign land...it is in the good, ole USA. (And we always mistook it for Shangrila.) Our fiftieth state will welcome you with warm trade winds, soft sandy beaches and a true, Aloha spirit. While there, look for the, "secret beach," the "slippery slide," those cute, little, "menehunes,"or just try to find the love and romance in being with each other.
